Professional career

I began my medical studies in October 1984 at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Bonn and completed them in November 1992, after completing my practical year at the Protestant Hospital in Bad Godesberg.
From April 1993 to December 1994, I gained my first practical experience during my internship and scientific work at the Clinic for Plastic Surgery in Cologne-Merheim and received my licence to practise medicine in December 1994. After my time as an assistant doctor, I specialised in plastic and aesthetic surgery and acquired my specialist title in December 1999.

From January 2003 to May 2014, I worked as a senior physician at the Luisenhospital Aachen and obtained an additional qualification in hand surgery in 2009. I then worked as an employed specialist at the Centre for Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery in Darmstadt until April 2017. From April 2017, I continued my independent work in the practice clinic Metropolitan Aesthetics in Cologne, in parallel I was employed part-time at CG Lympha and the Agatha Hospital in Cologne until January 2023.

Since July 2023, I have been complementing the LIPOCURA® team and taking on the position of site manager for the specialist centre in Cologne.

Experience and work in the field of lipedema

In the course of my professional career, I came into contact with the clinical picture of lipedema and developed an in-depth interest in this special medical problem. My desire to offer effective help and relief to affected patients motivated me to become intensively involved in this field. Through ongoing training and practical experience, I have been able to steadily deepen my knowledge and skills in the diagnosis and treatment of lipedema. Seeing the inner and outer transformation, how my patients blossom more and more in the course of treatment after a long path of suffering, fulfils me every day.
